Herbal Teas & Fruit Infusions
Herbal teas are actually called tisanes or infusions. They contain high levels of antioxidants that fight off the free radicals circulating in our bodies and are therefore a preventative measure against the health problems these rogue elements create. While some herbs like liquorice or fennel may be an acquired taste others are very enjoyable, and blending the less pleasant flavors with spices and fruits and more delightful herbs can create a beverage that is not only extremely beneficial to your health but thoroughly refreshing to drink hot or cold. Herbal teas are a wonderful accompaniment for spicy foods and help prevent acid reflux as well as aiding the digestion. Rooibos is one of many herbs that are caffeine free but some, such as guarana, do contain caffeine so always check before using herbs as a substitute for caffeine free drinks.
The herbal tisanes and fruit infusions in this section are not sold specifically for medicinal or therapeutic purpose. They're provided for your pleasure, and just happen to be wonderful products that are also good for your health! If you are looking for therapeutic herbs or single herbs for making your own blends, please check the Herbal Wellbeing Tea section.
Herbs and fruit infusions usually need a longer brewing or steeping time than tea leaves, to ensure you get the most goodness out of the plants or to release as much flavor as possible from fruit, flowers and spices. Brewing times can range from 5 to 8 minutes. Herbal teas and fruit infusions will still retain their beneficial qualities if they go cold, so a full brewed pot never goes to waste. Many iced teas have a herbal base.
